3 The Theatre in Greece and Rome 

Theatres were a creation of the Greek civilization, which invented drama; from the 4th century BC onwards, they spread from Greece itself to Sicily, Southern Italy and, especially, Asia Minor. Greek theatres known from their architectural remains are essentially of Hellenistic age and are composed of three parts: the cavea, the orchestra and the scaena.
